10 Traditional Bridal Outfits From Around The World

The world is filled with different cultures and customs and each country has its own way to celebrate the tying of the knot between two people.

The bridal outfit plays a very important role. Unlike many western countries where most brides just dress up in a white outfit, there are different countries around the world that  dress up in a rather colourful or unique way. Each tradition does it differently.

Here we compiled a list of ten bridal outfits from around the world. Be sure to pick up your favourite one.

    1. India

 Most brides in India prefer a red or pink colour outfit for their wedding that is paired with a lot of jewellery. Most of them also have a veil that covers their head with ofcourse henna on their hands.

2. Korea 

The brides on Korea are known to wear an elaborate gown with flowing sleeve.  The front of the and back  of the outfit have embroidered flowers representing wealth, longevity, and nobleness. The billowing sleeves had blue, yellow, red, fabrics, with a wide strip of white at the cuffs, which also have colourful embroidery. An headgear accompanies too.

3. Japan

A bride in Japan under goes five costume changes wears a traditional white kimono with a white hat fixed over complex hairstyle (usually a wig) for the ceremony. Then she changes into an elaborately-designed mostly red kimono at the beginning of the reception.

4. Nigeria 

The brides here wear a bright coloured outfit with a head tie called gele.

5. Morocco 

The wedding dress is usually a caftan, a sort of long robe made of silk, satin, chiffon, silk or other rich fabrics, and covered with a jacket.

6. Thailand

 

The Thai bridal outfit doesn’t contain too much jewellery but the outfit is rich and speaks for itself.

The Ethiopian brides usually have a gold ornament that runs over their head with gold earrings and gold necklace.

8. Norway

A bride in Norway usually wear a long white gown with few ornaments and a fascinating head gear.
