Located off the coast of U.A.E., in the waters of the Persian Gulf are two man-made architectural miracles – The Palm Islands and The World Islands. These awe-inspiring feats of engineering are no doubt the largest artificial islands on earth.
The Palm Islands are connected to the beaches of Dubai and consist of 3 man-made islands in the shape of palm trees. The first is the Palm Jumeirah, second is Jebel Ali Palm and the third and largest island is the Palm Deira. It took nearly 210,000,000 cubic meters of rock, sand and limestone for the work, and surprisingly no concrete was used at all.
These islands are home to 5,000 waterfront apartments, 4,000 residential villas, 1,000 water homes, as well as a number of luxury hotels, health spas, shopping malls, cinemas, marinas, restaurants and more.
The World Islands are a collection of 300 man-made islands in the shape of continents and located off the coast of Dubai. These private islands are divided into four categories – private homes, estate homes, dream resorts, and community islands. These islands were created for privacy, exclusivity and are a more expensive way to enjoy the luxury of the sun and sea.
