People are of the impression that you need a good light source in order to really appreciate a painting, its details and subtleties. However, Cristoforo Scorpiniti, an Italian artist, is all set to challenge that perception with his paintings that come alive when the lights go out.
The artist creates captivating paintings of animals or landscapes that look bright and playful during the day and which transform into ethereal dreamscapes during the night. It sounds complex, but the artist achieves this by making clever use of glow-in-the-dark paint, creating depth and shadows that only become visible as the light fades.
His bewitching paintings have a double-edged appeal and evoke a sense of wonder and awe as it symbolizes the dualism between light and dark, day and night. Cristoforo works out of his home workshop in Bologna and says that his dream is to open an art gallery where he can display his artworks for everyone to enjoy.
